A winter attraction is the ski resort at Velouchi, where groups and families enjoy thrilling snow adventures. In Megalo Chorio and Koryschades, walkers lose themselves in the picturesque cobbled streets with stone-built houses from another era. The Monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa in the village of Proussos is a unique destination. Pilgrims respectfully kiss the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, and hikers begin the trail to the Black Cave, rumored to have been a refuge for the village's women and children during the Ottoman occupation. Even today, the stone-built wall remains, blending seamlessly with the rocks.

The route to Agrafa is enchanting. Frozen in another era, it captures the true essence of village life, where everything moves at a slow pace, and the locals are always willing to share information and offer a homemade tsipouro. Evrytania, with Karpenisi, Agrafa, and its countless villages, undoubtedly constitutes the ideal destination throughout the year.

…must visit
Proussos Monastery (Holy Monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa)

An impressive route through the valley formed by the Karpenisiotis River, where you have the opportunity to visit beautiful villages such as Koryschades, Klavsi, Voutyro, Nostimo, Mikro Chorio, Palio Mikro Chorio, and, of course, on the opposite bank, Megalo Chorio.

On the way to Proussos, you will be captivated by the unique beauty of landmarks like "Kleidi," the "Footsteps of the Virgin Mary," and the reverent atmosphere of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa. Close to Proussos, there are small, picturesque villages perched on the mountain slopes of the region. Tornos, Kastania, Aspropyrgos, and Velota are some of these. You can also hike the marked trails of Tornos and discover the path leading to "Mikro Panta Vrechei" (Small Always Raining Waterfall).

Just outside the village of Proussos, you can walk along the trail to the Black Cave, which leads to the starting point of the Via-Ferrata route (you will need a certified guide and the necessary equipment for crossing the Via-Ferrata).

The Black Cave is said to have been the oracle visited by Odysseus, and during the Ottoman occupation, it served as a hiding place for the women and children of the village of Proussos. Upon reaching the crossroads at Aspropyrgos, you have the option to continue your journey toward Agia Vlacherna, known for its “natural beach” where you can swim in the summer, and Fidakia, offering stunning views of the Kremasta Lake and the Episkopi Bridge from the area known as "Tsaγkaralona." Alternatively, you can head toward Kremasta Lake and return to Karpenisi via Western and Eastern Fragkista (these routes also include some dirt roads).
